the earthquake...

Wanted to blog in details about my experience but I'm still feeling very tired after the unbelievable 2-day journey.

In short, I was on my way from Singapore to Japan and in fact almost landing into Tokyo when the terrible shake occurred. Narita airport was closed immediately and after hovering in the air for about 30 minutes, my plane headed to Nagoya airport instead. Unfortunately, Nagoya was also too chaotic and crowded for us to even get out of the plane, so after 4 hours of waiting, the plane captain decided to bring us to Seoul, Korea. The airline prepared a hotel for us and I spent the night there, feeling lost about what to do and depressed upon seeing all the horrible images on TV. The next day, I went to Incheon airport and got a flight back to Singapore, much to the relief of my family and friends.

If you follow my tweets you probably already knew the above story. My cousin, yongwei also blogged about it. (His tone of writing makes it sound like a joke but I know he was really concerned.)

Now I'm seriously unsure about what my next step is gonna be. I was supposed to have reached Yokohama and settled into my new apartment by now. I had been looking through online furniture catalog and made lotsa plans to meet up with friends living in or visiting Yokohama/Tokyo. But now, with the countless aftershocks and possible threat of nuclear radiation, I have absolutely no idea when it is ever going to be safe to go to Japan again.

Of course, my little predicament here is nothing compared to the millions of lives lost and unthinkable amount of damages caused. It really pains my heart each time I see the death toll rises or the report of a new-found complication. All my friends who are still in Japan, please stay safe. And Japan, may you recover from this tragic disaster as soon as possible.

日本、頑張れ!!!
