Getting Better

It's been almost 2 weeks since the terrible quake, and thankfully the nuclear situation which has caused widespread fear in the first week seem to have taken a turn for the better. I admit that I am not that well-read nor knowledgeable enough to give any criticism, so I shall just share some excerpts from articles that I can't help but agree with.

"Soon the news in some corners of the press and broadcast media looked like it had been written by sensationalist fiction writers. The stories were representative of what they wanted to see, rather than what was actually happening in Tokyo."
- Battling a spiral of hysteria in Tokyo

"the inordinate and sensationalist attention given to the reactors by American and other media has taken attention away from where it should be: on the likely nearly 20,000 people who died in the quake and tsunamis, on the nearly 400,000 homeless people, and on the immense suffering this has caused for Japan as a whole."
- Taking Stock

Due to all the speculations of the worst-case scenario, many of my friends or bloggers that I follow who study/work in Tokyo have decided to take a break from the city. I guess I can be considered as one of them too, although I didn't really leave Japan since I went to and flew back from Korea to be exact. =P Anyway, once the situation improves further and my family is more reassured, I will continue with my move to Yokohama. Right now, I'm looking at mid-April. :)

Meanwhile, WC is taking reservations for this Charity T-shirt online! All proceeds will go into helping the victims of this disaster through the Japanese Red Cross Society. I'm definitely gonna be ordering a few shirts too cos they are not only cute, for a good cause, but also cos the message on it truly reflects how I feel. ;)
