Started watching this thanks to one of my dear students who recorded and lent me the video tape every week. Awww~ I also want a 彼氏 like もこみち! =P
働きマン
Was between jobs when I watched this and it got me inspired to become a 働きマン (workaholic) too. Alas, although I also found a job in the publishing industry just like 松方弘子 of this story, mine is not even half as exciting as hers!
花ざかりの君たちへ
Everything in this drama is so bright, happy and cheery! And 生田斗真 is fantastic playing 中津. Love all his hilarious imaginary monologues!!
花より男子
Got hooked to it after watching only the first episode. All the settings are so gorgeous and magnificent, and all the actors/actresses are so good-looking!
花より男子 リターンズ
Feel a strong desire to visit New York where the first episode was filmed. Characters in this season 2 are more defined. Think 小栗旬 really brought out the charm of 花沢類 that for a while, I was even hoping that 牧野つくし would pick him instead of 道明寺! =P
ハチミツとクローバー
Nice show with many meaningful lines, but the ending is not how I had wished things would turn out to be. ハグちゃん is adorable.
のだめカンタービレ
Super comical!! Every single character stands out on their own. Beautiful Europe setting in the two special episodes. Adore のだめ for all her ワンピース(dresses) and messy room! =P
Stand Up!
Very funny show that revolves around four teenage boys trying to break through their virgin selves. 二宮和也 is so suited for his role cos of the boyish face. Can't believe that 小栗旬 and 成宮寛貴 used to play such silly characters and 山P was so skinny! I also like the setting of 戸越公園商店街 and the various summer events which make this story so down-to-earth and "Japanese".
ごくせん
Seeing how やんくみ always goes all out to protect her students made me feel both ashamed and inspired - ashamed cos I was never such a passionate teacher like her and inspired cos it made me wanna go back to teaching! Can't help being reminded of 花より男子 constantly cos of the combination of 松本潤 and 小栗旬, although this show is supposed to be much older.
ごくせん２
Starting to find the story really exaggerated cos the students always get into fights or some crimes every week! Don't think anyone's life is so eventful in reality eh? But I still enjoyed the show cos of the funny scenes and cuties 速水もこみち & 小池徹平! Also can't stop laughing whenever I see 水嶋ヒロ as an extra in class 3D! *lol*
ドラゴン桜
Doramas about high school students are in abundance but this one is different cos it really focuses on the studying part instead of the common high-school romance or dream-pursuing plots. Reminded me of the days I studied for my O and A levels. Good casting especially the cute combination of 小池徹平 & サエコ!
池袋ウエストゲートパーク
Was recommended to this show by Josephine when she showed me around 池袋 in Tokyo last year. Nice show indeed but a little too much sex and violence. 山P was so young (about 15?) and cute at that time!

花より男子 ファイナル
As much as I love the dorama, I think the movie is a little too far-fetched especially the part of them living on the stranded island and つくし fighting a bear. Glad that everything ended happily though. =)
僕の彼女はサイボーグ
Thought it was just another of those man-&-robot love stories initially but the ending was really unexpected. Excited to see the familiar background of Daimaru and 南京街 of Kobe in some parts of the movie too!
クロサギ
Watched this over a few days during my lunch hour in Shinjo, and maybe that's why I couldn't feel the intensity of the movie. Anyway, think 山P is a really great actor cos he can pull off any character so well!
おくりびと
Well-known movie throughout Japan for winning "Best Foreign Language Film" in this year's Academy Award, though I only knew about it when an ex-student recommended it to me since I was working in 山形, where the story is set. Have to say that this movie is really touching and it made me love 山形 much more cos the place was captured so beautifully. I even visited some of the shooting locations later and it was really exciting to know that I was standing at the same spot where this award-winning film was shot!

Fruits Basket
Thanks to Ping and Didi for burning a copy of this lovely anime for me. Tohru is such a sweet girl but my favourite character has to be Hanajima for her somewhat dark and mysterious but very cool aura.
涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱
Another anime by courtesy of Ping and Didi. Kinda hard to understand cos the episodes do not run in order but that's what makes it interesting! Only regret is that I only started watching it after leaving Kobe... else I would certainly visit more of 西宮市 (20 mins away from Kobe city) where many scenes are based on!
千と千尋の神隠し
Yes I am slow to have watched this only recently. Fans of Hayao Miyazaki would certainly love it!

あいのり
The only Japanese variety show I watched on a regular basis. It's actually a reality show where 7 guys and girls go travel around the world together and meanwhile try to look for their real love among the group. When a couple is successfully formed, they return to Japan together. Otherwise, the rejected one goes back alone with a broken heart. Sad to say, this all-time favourite show of mine finally came to an abrupt end in March after running for 9.5 years. No clear explanation was given but rumours has it that it was too expensive to produce especially with the economic downturn. I was really upset when I learnt about the termination of this programme. Not only has it moved me to tears on many occasions, but also taught me many things such as various cultures in the world, different perspectives of love and lotsa colloquial Japanese terms that we can't find in textbooks. Sigh~ I miss Ainori!

Really hilarious! Tang Mun，唐阿门，淑惠/恩惠/美惠，呼呼。。。Just thinking about all these makes me wanna laugh again.
爱就宅一起
After seeing Rainie as a sampat 圣诞树, now we see her as a quiet 宅女. Jiro is funny as usual and I really enjoyed the front part of this show. The later part, however, seems a little cliched with Mars getting into an accident and going through those treatment to stand up again.
Ok, time to watch more updated doramas and movies!
