sorry for the serious lack of proper updates recently. actually there are so many things i wanna write about, especially about the past few days which have been so eventful. but i always put things off until now i've accumulated so many things to write that i don't know where to start! =P hmmm... ok, let me talk about 2 things first today.
① Jay オフ会 Karaoke Session (3rd Feb 08)

saw on mixi that a group of Jay lovers in Osaka were having an all-Jay-songs karaoke session in a chinese karaoke lounge. i was very interested and decided to join them!
a total of 13 people, with me as the only non-Japanese, turned up at the spacious VIP room of "shanghai xintiandi", and started shooting Jay's songs away one after another. after about 4 hours of Jay-only session, we sang songs by other artistes too, such as S.H.E, Jolin, LeeHom, MayDay, JJ Lin, etc. it was the first time in Japan i got to sing so many chinese songs to my heart's content. shiok!! and i was very impressed because all these Japanese fans could sing chinese songs really well!! even though their pronunciation was not perfect. =P yours truly performed Jolin's "海盗" and it was very well-received! ;P hee... so happy bcos it was also the first time in Japan that people actually understood what i was singing. now i really know what it means by 音乐不分国界!

after the karaoke, a few people left, and the rest of us decided to go for dinner together. we went to a chinese steamboat place and ate and talked. i learnt that most of them had studied chinese language for at least a few years before - some in Taiwan, some in Beijing, and some through self-learning. there was also a Shanghaiese-turn-Japanese girl whom i spoke to mainly in chinese. during the steamboat session, i also heard lotsa gossips and news of the chinese entertainment world, be it in Taiwan or Hong Kong. gee... can't believe these Japanese people are so much more well-informed than me!

we also had fun taking pictures during the steamboat and purikura after that. i was very glad to have gotten to know so many new friends with common interest! =) however, one embarrassing thing was that i forgot to bring sufficient money on that day... but one of the guys was kind enough to pay for half of my dinner. so paiseh!
(sidenote: 周杰伦 is in Japan right now!! and his concert in Japan is on this weekend in Tokyo! if only the concert was in Osaka....)
② Things that made mi cry on a CNY eve (6th Feb 08)
came back at night to find my JLPT1 results slip sitting on the table. with both hesitation and anticipation, i tore it open and saw...

yes, i failed. even though it was only by a mere 7 marks, it still doesn't change the fact that i have failed my exam. (passing line for JLPT1 is 70%, aka 280 points.)
i collapsed onto my tatami floor for a good 10 mintues, regretting not studying hard enough for the whole of last year. although i had already half-expected myself not to be able to pass with my substandard level of Japanese, seeing the truth in black and white was just so much harder to swallow.
next, i turned on the computer and found an email from my brother. he had sent mi a video of my parents during reunion dinner at home.

mum showing off the "好料" they were eating

dad with his usual paiseh smile
yes, it was a happy thing... to receive such a warm new year greeting from my family back home. but the moment the video started rolling... i found tears pelting down my cheeks uncontrollably. i watched video half laughing at my brother's usual antics and half crying over how i miss everyone...
来了日本一年半,
好像一点长进也没有。
日语还是一样的烂,
自己永远还是停留在一个原点。
好想念家人朋友的温暖,
却又不想这样一事无成地回去。
and so i spent my CNY eve sobbing alone in my room...
on a brighter note, a few days later, i was very happy to see the response i got on my mixi diary. i had put up a short notice of my JLPT1 results, and almost immediately i received tons of comments from my new-found Jay-fans friends, saying that such an examination is difficult even for Japanese people themselves. suddenly i felt like so much like 電車男! although i don't really know these people well, but being able to receive all their encouragement online is really very heart-warming. awww....

ok, that's all for today! will update again about my CNY this year, which surprisingly, turned out to be very enjoyable! =)
