3 Japanese movies that I saw last week

^Densha Otoko^

saw the drama 1.5 years ago but i didn't see the movie until last Sat when i went to Niyama-san's for okonomiyaki party and this was showing on TV. i like the drama a lot so initially i wasn't quite ready to accept this movie version as the characters look quite different - the movie's guy is much better-looking while the drama's girl is much prettier. anyway, after finishing the movie, i found it was pretty nice too! much more realistic than the drama version, which is so comical and exaggerated. i still like the drama of cos. so i guess the 2 versions portray the story in different lights and it's up to the viewers to decide which approach is better for them.

^Lovely Complex^

a really cute high school love story between a 1.59m boy and a 1.70m girl. the basic storyline is already interesting enough but what makes it even more appealing to mi is the use of Osaka dialect, otherwise known as Kansai-ben! i proudly announce that after living in Kobe for 1.5 years, my Japanese language hasn't improved much but my Kansai-ben is as good as a native! haha =Pp

^Backdancers^

yet another one of those youngsters-fighting-for-their-dreams-and-finally-succeed-after-some-diffculties kinda movie. yeah it's cliche but i couldn't help watching it cos the "dreams" we are talking about here is "dancing"! so 4 girls, who used to be back-up dancers for a singer finally break through and evolve as an independent dance group. there are some really cool dance moves in here, mixed with bits of humour and a little moment that touches your heart.

**P.S. it has been snowing in Kobe! feels so magical each time to see the tiny flakes falling from the sky, despite the cold that comes along with it. but no, the snow isn't heavy enough to accumulate though. just short bursts of snowfall and melt. i really wish i could just wake up a day to find my neighbourhood all covered in snow, but there is very little possibility of that happening.**

****P.S.2 Jackie Chan was shooting his new film in town last week!! well, it's not that i'm a big fan of his, but he is really a legendary figure, and i was thinking how exciting it would be if i could just catch a glimpse of him live. information has it that he was filming in the market quite near my school! but i didn't know about it until it was too late. also heard that he filmed in Sannomiya as well, and in fact he was already in Japan since last December. seems like he has already left though. aiya, too bad. =P****
