i have a secondary school friend who writes for Lianhe Zaobao. like myself, she is also a Japan enthusiast and was even supposed to have gone to Japan to teach English too, but eventually rejected the offer to pursue her passion for journalism. nonetheless, her interest in Japan has never waned, as can be seen in many of her articles that revolve around the theme of Japanese culture, just like the one above. knowing that i've lived in Japan for a few years, she decided to interview me (through email, and in English!) for my two cents worth.
