Main reason was because my students from Kobe were in town. There were so many things to prepare and so much entertaining to do that my sore throat finally developed into a bad cold. Was kinda worried if I'd caught the H1N1 initially, but I didn't have a fever, and I got much better after a good night's sleep and some medicine from the doctor.
Anyway, I was actually supposed to be the emcee of the 20th anniversary lunch party. But many guests left after the lunch itself so there really wasn't much need for an emcee, I thought. Still, Boss decided to make me read the English translation of his speech anyway, just so that my effort wouldn't be put to waste. (Would have been happier to just keep my translation hidden from the world though, cos I don't think it was very well done. =P)
Touching moment of the day came during the powerpoint and video presentation, prepared by the 2 current teachers. Pictures of the school's history for the past 20 years were shown, complete with well wishes from numerous ex-teachers and past/present students. Boss teared while watching and I felt like crying too, but managed to hold back my tears.
Once again, I was reminded of how lucky I was to have been selected to be part of this big, warm, Temasek family. I can confidently say that being a teacher there has got to be one of the best jobs ever. Very rarely can you see such good relationships between employer, employees, and even customers. No amount of thanks can express how grateful I am to be blessed with such a wonderful experience for 2 years.
