i had always felt very unqualified to teach my advanced English class. mi, juz a young & inexperienced 23-yr-old ignorant girl, actually gets the power to TEACH ppl from various professional and respectable occupations, such as doctor, journalist, vice-principal, legal advisor, etc.
but today, i had one of my most interesting classes ever. the 5.50pm class, which usually onli consists of 1 student, surprised mi with a total turn-out of 5! 4 of them were make-up students who had missed previous classes.
so we had an engaging discussion abt nationalities and all, as 2 of the students were actually of Chinese origins. everyone contributed actively, with some jokes here and there that cracked everyone up.
for mi, i felt kinda stressed up at first, having to coordinate such a big class where everyone was already fairly competent in the usage of English. but slowly, as i saw how enthusiastically the students were taking part in the conversation, i began to relax, knowing tt the stress of brainstorming for subjects to talk abt has been unloaded. instead of a teacher, i felt more like the host of a talkshow. i had to introduce everyone, initiate topics, keep the ball rolling, drop in comments, make sure everyone gets the chance to speak, and wrap up everything at the end b4 we moved on to the next segment (aka studying textbook). phew~ i was so glad when the class ended successfully and everyone seemed to hv enjoyed the session.
if onli all my classes were this interactive and enjoyable. =P
